Ruth is a perpetually exhausted woman who suffers from recurring waking nightmares. One stormy night, she meets the ghostly manifestation of her dyssomnia, and they strike a mutually beneficial bargain: it subsists off of bad dreams, and Ruth wants hers cured. Sounds like a good deal… right?

the low-down

Dyssomnia is a proof-of-concept animated short film made by one artist with the generous support of their fellow industry friends and additional usage of creative commons assets. It was made primarily to learn the 3D program Blender, and to establish a working pipeline for creating 3d animation projects, which I'll go into detail about later on once it's released.My goal is to make my pipeline documentation available for anyone who wants to also make an animated short film too. I come from a 3D animation background, so I can't teach you all that stuff... but I can go into how I made the film using Blender, the add-ons and tricks that helped me, and the process and steps I took to get this far. Of course, as a learner, none of it is perfect, but it may help serve as a launching point for others, and at the very least, show that it can be done by one person in under a year.
